Yoga Class Descriptions
What is Yoga?
Yoga is both an art and a science. As a physical discipline, one explores the intimate connection between the body, mind, and spirit. It is the unique combination of fitness and health, for all ages and abilities.
Yoga stretches, strengthens, and builds stamina, in addition to improving the functioning of all the vital organs. Using the natural flow of breath, yoga helps us realize our potential for self-healing and inner peace.
Your yoga practice will become a sanctuary to renourish body, mind, and spirit.
What to bring and wear
- For hygienic reasons, we suggest you bring your own mat.
- We supply all other equipment.
- Wear comfortable clothes, such as light sweats or tights.
- Bring a water bottle.
Etiquette
- Out of respect for your teacher and fellow students, please arrive on time.
- If you miss a class, make up classes are available within the same session. Please call to arrange.
- Please do not wear perfume, cologne, or other scents.
Pranayama
An introductory class devoted to developing the students awareness of breathing and practicing basic breathing techniques. It is recommended that students have been practicing yoga for at least 2 years.
Introduction to Yoga / Discover Yoga
In our Intro to Yoga class you will gain a solid foundation of yoga, with good clear explanations and demonstrations. Each class includes breathing and relaxation techniques. No experience required.
Multi-Level Yoga
This class is an eclectic blend of of yogic traditions, fusing Vinyasa (Flow), Hatha, Restorative with deep emphasis on Pranayama (Breath) and Meditation. Within each class the postures are carefully sequenced together in proper alignment using the breath with attention to necessary props and modifications to offer a diverse range for all abilities. New & seasoned practitioners should be ready to feel joyfully.
Level 1 Yoga
For continuing students wanting to expand their yoga practice, our Level 1 Yoga classes will include the preparations and execution of more advanced poses.
Beginner Flow Yoga
Feel the embodiment of life force energy surging through every cell of your body, and flow with it through a seamless unfolding of your body in Asana. In this fluid practice postures are sequenced together effortlessly to cultivate strong body, clear mind and an open and receptive heart.
Each class will have emphasis on breath, mediation and yoga.
Gentle Yoga for 50+
Gentle Hatha yoga can be relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding. Join us and stretch your body while expanding your mind out of those old concepts of what you can or can't do. The teacher collects all her pensions and knows what it is like to keep on moving and actively participating in life.
iRest Yoga Nidra
Learn to live with ease and joy by nurturing your body, mind and soul. This class will use gentle movements with smooth-flowing breath to restore a sense of vitality in the body. Kripula Yoga
Kripula Yoga speaks directly to the heart and then flows out to work directly with the body. You learn many of the same postures as in yoga classes, but the emphasis is not only on how you practice, but how you live your life. It’s a practice that revitalizes the body, calms the mind and spirit into a state of harmony and balance.
What distinguishes Kripula Yoga?
The practice begins with gentle emphasis on being present in the body, sustaining a flowing breath and warm up.
Teaches you how to listen to your body and honor its needs – you choose the level of physical intensity right for your body.
It activities the life force of the body that yoga calls "prana"
It encourages you to create a lifestyle supportive of your health by listening to your own body and it is a yoga that can be practiced "off the mat"
Kundalini Yoga
(as taught by Yogi Bhajan) is an ancient and traditional form of yoga that incorporates all aspects of yoga – postures, (asana), breath work, (pranayam), energy seals (mudras), body locks (bhanda) meditation and relaxation, allowing your body to quickly unlock its own hidden potential. People of all ages, levels of fitness and experience with yoga are encouraged to try these classes, as this is a yoga for everyone.
Shakti Flow Yoga
For experienced students only.
Awaken the divine, universal energy of Shakti within this energetic, fluid and empowering practice. Postures are sequenced together creatively to cultivate freedom in movement; celebrate an open and receptive heart.
Each class will have emphasis on Pranayama, meditation and yoga
Vinyasana Flow Yoga
An Ashtanga focused class that incorporates hints of other yoga disciplines. Begins with the Primary Series Sun Salutations and experiment with various standing and seated postures each week. This is a great multi level class.
Yoga From Your Core
Improve core stability and strength as you explore the supportive role of the core in posture and movement. Deepen understanding, awareness, flexibility, and ultimately, strength of your "centre" using techniques and traditions in the context of a well-balanced yoga practice.
Yoga for Kids (7-12)
Have fun discovering yoga through breath and awareness. Young people will reduce stress, increase flexibility, and strength.
